About the Break
This weekend is about exploring the hills of Snowdonia in good company and with an expert local mountain leader. We’ll avoid the main paths and take less frequented routes on the most remote peaceful hills. Walking at your own relaxed and comfortable pace, you will have plenty of time to stop and enjoy the superb autumnal views, as well as study the wildlife and flora that thrive in these isolated areas.
There is a choice of accommodation for this weekend. Either choose the creature comforts of the award winning Country House Hotel, Sygun Fawr, situated in a stunning location above the picturesque mountain village of Beddgelert. Alternatively stay at the YHA Bryn Gwynant, a Victorian mansion with stunning views over lake Gwynant and Snowdon.
Our guides have the experience and local knowledge to show you routes where few other walkers venture. This total freedom is what walking in the hills is all about.
Please note:
For your comfort and safety on this activity you will need to have good quality leather or leather / gortex walking boots - local hire is available (pre booking essential). You will also need a full set of waterproofs (jacket and trousers), these can be provided free of charge.
Please also ensure you have a rucksack and plenty of warm clothes including fleeces, hat and gloves. We will send you a recommended clothing list when you book. -

The Sygun Fawr Country House Hotel is recommended by Great Little Places of Wales, and it certainly lives up to this label. A former Welsh Manor House dating from 1644, Sygun Fawr is situated in a stunning location, a short walk away from the picturesque mountain village of Beddgelert.
The unique style is relaxed, friendly and informal, with none of the trappings of a stuffy hotel. Set in 20 acres of mountainside and gardens, peace and tranquility are assured at this ultimate mountain retreat.
There are eleven bedrooms, all tastefully decorated with comfort and style in mind. All the rooms are en-suite with bath or shower and have tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryers and radio alarm clocks.
With its antique furniture, low beams and inglenooks the convivial atmosphere and ambience of the dining room provides a relaxed and informal place to enjoy excellent food and wine with good conversation. You can also dine in the new contemporary conservatory which has splendid views of the garden and surrounding mountains. The cosy bar and lounge with snug provide refreshment and relaxation for tired legs after a day’s walking.
The YHA Bryn Gwynant is 4 miles east of Beddgelert. This budget option offers much more than just a place to sleep. Bryn Gwynant is situated in its own estate on the edge of a lake, with incredible mountain scenery all around.
There’s a variety of rooms, including smaller private rooms for couples and families as well as the traditional bunk-bedded shared rooms. Laundered bed linen, pillows, duvet and blankets are provided free of charge for you to make up your bed. Towels can be provided for a small charge or you can bring your own.
A hearty breakfast will be provided with plenty of choice. You can cook your own evening meal in the large self-catering kitchen which is fully equipped, or make the short drive into Beddgelert to eat at one of the many excellent local restaurants or pubs.
