About the Break
Kick start your climbing season with a weekend course with expert instruction in Snowdonia, North Wales. Any aspiring climber at some stage in their climbing life comes to Snowdonia to climb some of the most famous cliffs in Britain. Climbers love Snowdonia for its amazing range of climbs and its wide variety of rocks – from quartzite to famous Welsh slate.
On this 2 day course we aim to provide an enjoyable climbing experience for those who want to learn and practice in a non-intimidating environment.
Our expert instructors will help you improve your climbing technique to deal with small hand and foot holds. They will build up your confidence as you learn how to work with safety ropes and learn to focus on the rock, controlling your fear. The course is aimed at people who have climbed on indoor walls and want to take the next step, to climb on real rock. The programme for the course is flexible. We start with the basics and follow a progressive structure, which helps you to learn and practice new skills as your confidence grows.
We intend to cover the following areas:
Equipment, Moving on rock, Tying on, Belaying (bottom, top and lead), Climbing calls, Abseiling, Tying into anchors (in reach and out of reach), Placing gear, Climbing grades, Route selection and using guide books, Rigging top ropes

Destination
Snowdonia
Snowdonia has a long mountaineering and rock climbing history, with many famous climbs and rock of the highest quality. We have the luxury of a large number of single and multi-pitch crags to choose from, so we can run our climbing courses whatever the weather.
Bryn Tyrch Hotel, Capel Curig, Gwynedd, Snowdonia, LL24 0EL
The Bryn Tyrch Hotel is situated in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park surrounded by magnificent scenery. Capel Curig is an ideal centre for outdoor pursuits and the hotel is very popular with walkers and climbers.
All the rooms are en-suite and have a television and hot drinks facilities. You will be allocated a room to share another course participant of the same gender or you can choose to pay a supplement for a single room.
The evening menus offer an excellent selection of traditional Wesh fare, with good quality, fresh ingredients, sourced from local suppliers. The chefs also pride themselves on offering the best vegan and vegetarian meals in North Wales. The menus are complemented by a very reasonably priced and carefully selected wine list
