About the Break
This weekend offers you the chance to discover and practice the art of mountain scrambling. More than straight forward walking, but not quite rock climbing, mountain scrambling takes you over steeper, more adventurous ground, often using specialist techniques and perhaps using a rope.
Over the two days you will explore some of the classic rocky ridges and less accessible places in Snowdonia, discovering new areas off the beaten track.
Your instructor will help you to develop the skills and judgement which will enable you to move safely and confidently over steep, rocky ground on some of Britain’s most exciting mountain scenery.
For this weekend Dringo Adventure has teamed up with the Youth Hostel Association to offer a great value inclusive package, which includes a two night stay in comfortable YHA accommodation in Llanberis, with breakfasts included.
You can also choose the full board option which includes packed lunches on both days, and evening meals on Friday and Saturday. All specialist equipment, including helmets and ropes are provided. However we will send you a recommended clothing list when you book. Scrambling does require good quality leather or leather & gortex boots. If you have your own bring them, otherwise you can hire them for £5 per day (payable locally). Minimum age is 16, but children u18 must be accompanied by a participating adult.
To get the most out of this weekend you should have a reasonable level of mountain fitness and some experience of steep summer hillwalking.

About the Break
This weekend gives you a unique opportunity to explore the rugged shores, sandy beaches and outstanding wildlife of the North Wales coastline, one of the top sea kayaking destinations in the UK.

However you need to be comfortable and confident around water and you should also be reasonably fit. This weekend is designed to give you an introduction to kayaking and what it’s all about. Our highly skilled guides and coaches will teach you the basic knowledge and kayak handling skills specific to the sea.
The exact programme will depend on weather and sea conditions, but you should expect a practical weekend, with the emphasis on mastering the basics and going on a journey to explore the beautiful North Wales coastline.
Each day your instructors will meet you at the hotel at 9.15am. You will return from a full day of activity at around 5pm.The centre has a fleet of stable, user-friendly kayaks you can try out during the weekend. When you book we will send you a list of what you should bring with you. Dringo Adventure will supply all technical equipment and kayaking clothing. However, if you already have your own, then do bring it.

About the Break
This walking weekend is based at the SYHA in Glen Nevis near Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. The weekend is part of our UK National Three Peaks Challenge 2010, offering you the chance to climb the three highest mountains in England, Wales & Scotland.
The Three Peaks are Scafell Pike in the Lake District , Snowdon in North Wales and Ben Nevis in the Highlands of Scotland.
We are organising this popular Challenge over 3 weekends, so you get to know the others and build up your ‘mountain fitness’ and stamina. The total distance walked is about 25 miles, and height climbed is around 10, 000ft. Your guides are local professional mountain leaders & instructors who will ensure you have a safe, enjoyable and low impact Three Peaks Challenge.Ben Nevis - The Climb
On Saturday, lead by professional guides with hundreds of ascents between them, we will head up Ben Nevis, via the Mountain Track, from Glen Nevis. A relatively straightforward route in the summer, this is suitable for novices, as long as you are properly equipped and fit.
We’ll pick the path up immediately outside the hostel where you’ll be staying. This route involves a 7km walk to the summit, with 1340m of climbing. It normally takes between 3 ½ and 5 hours to reach the summit. We’ll descend by the same route. Coming down is much quicker, between 1 ½ and 2 ½ hours, but it’s still hard on your legs. If we are lucky enough to get a clear day the views of the Scottish Highlands are spectacular, with the Isle of Mull, Isle of Skye, Glencoe and the Cairngorm mountains all visible. Whatever the conditions, you’ll feel a fantastic sense of achievement standing at the summit cairn at the top of the highest mountain in the UK!

About the Break
This walking weekend is based in the market town of Keswick, in the beautiful Lake District.
Your guides are local professional mountain leaders & instructors who will ensure you have a safe, enjoyable and low impact Three Peaks Challenge.Scafell Pike
Scafell Pike is, famously, the highest mountain in England standing at 978m (3208ft).
It may surprise you how rugged, barren and rocky the paths are, with the summit strewn with boulders. Much of the walk up involves clambering over rocks and uneven footing and, whilst Scafell Pike is a popular climb, attracting thousands of climbers every year, it is certainly not easy. However with the right gear & walking boots, our professional mountain instructors will guide you safely to the summit, and back! The Climb
There are two main routes to the top of Scafell Pike and we will be following the route from Seathwaite in Borrowdale. Although slightly longer at 15km (9.3miles), this route takes in wonderful waterfalls and rewards us with magnificent views and, if you’re doing the 3 Peaks Challenge, it’s also perfect training for Ben Nevis!
The typical time to complete this route is around six hours. As you would expect of the highest point in England there are some excellent views from Scafell Pike’s summit, especially over wastwater to the west and the Langdale Pikes to the east.On Saturday evening we’ll celebrate with a tasty home-cooked 2 course dinner in the hostel’s fully licensed restaurant, followed by the chance to sample Keswick’s night life, if you’re feeling up to it!
Sunday will be a relaxed recovery day. After breakfast in the hostel you might take a walk into Keswick town centre and browse the unusual galleries, cafés and the host of outdoor shops. There will be a pub lunch (optional) before farewells later in the day.

About the Break
Have a great day out with our fully qualified professional guides as we attempt to climb to the summit of Mount Snowdon, which at 1085m or 3560ft, is the highest mountain in England and Wales. Snowdon is at the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. Why not dig out your walking boots and come and join us to share the exhilaration of scaling Snowdon’s slopes and enjoy some of the most spectacular scenery the UK has to offer.
The new Snowdon Visitor’s Centre, Hafod Eryri, recently opened on the summit. Costing £8.4million it really is a feat of engineering and offers some staggering views while you can enjoy a cup of tea.The day is a sociable event and, with a maximum of 8 people per guide, we’ll move at a comfortable pace for the group. You’ll be guided by expert local mountain professionals, who are fully qualified to lead groups in the mountains. All our guides are also qualified in remote area first aid and will carry group emergency kit. They have a wealth of knowledge about Mount Snowdon, and the Snowdonia area in general. Whether its geography, geology, plant life, wild life or myths and legends
Your guide will choose the most suitable walking route for the group, according to the prevailing weather. A day on Snowdon takes between five and seven hours, including breaks and a lunch stop. How fit do I have to be?
If you do some form of regular weekly exercise or have a physical job, you should be fine. If you do no regular exercise and have a desk job, you’ll find it hard but not impossible. If you are unsure, contact us. When we arrive back at the hotel you’ll have a chance to relax before meeting up for dinner and a glass or two of wine, congratulating ourselves on our achievement!
Please note:
For your comfort and safety on this weekend you will need good quality leather or leather and gortex walking boots - local hire is available (pre booking essential). You will also need a full set of waterproofs (jacket and trousers). Please also ensure you have a rucksack and plenty of warm clothes including fleeces, hats and gloves. We will send you a recommended clothing list when you book. -
